After FIFA World Cup, Qatar set to host AFC Asian Cup in 2023

The AFC Asian Championship 2023 is finally set to find a home. The tournament had been delayed multiple times over the logistocal issues after it was moved out of China, but now finally has a country that is prepared and ready to host the tournament.
The FIFA World Cup 2022 host, Qatar, will replace China as host nation of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, the Asian Football Confederation announced on Monday, 17 October.
The Asian Football Council in a statement said that Qatar were chosen ahead of the two other finalists Indonesia and South Korea for the right to hold the biennial championship of Asian football. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Executive Committee on Monday.
With Qatar already set to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup next month, AFC president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa said "Qatar's capabilities and track record in hosting major international sporting events and their meticulous attention to detail are well admired throughout the globe."
